TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Montreal Limited Edition
Our first entry in this variety edition comes from TAG Heuer. I got a bit excited when the press release came in and I saw a 1972 Montreal chronograph. Well, it turns out that we’re getting a 39mm Carrera with the familiar “Glassbox” construction in the guise of a Montreal. This 1,000-piece limited edition features blue, yellow, and red highlights on its dial and a blue leather alligator strap. The in-house Calibre 02 automatic powers the three-register chronograph. The €6,400 watch will begin hitting boutiques and online in July. I would have been happier with a new case more in the shape of the Montreal, but this is a good looking watch overall. Union Glashütte Noramis Datum Deutschland Klassik 2020
Union makes a wide variety of watches and the brand is quite active when it comes to supporting classic cars. The latest model in support of oldtimer rallies is the Noramis Datum Deutschland Klassik 2020. This is a 40mm stainless watch with the UNG 07.01 automatic, which is an ETA 2892. 200. Individually numbered pieces are available now at €2,100 (€2,047 after July 1st when Germany drops its VAT by 3%). This is a sharp-looking piece with its black and grey dial and woven brown leather strap. Head to Union for more information.
Longines Heritage Classic — Tuxedo
Longines is on a roll. It’s released a variety of Heritage Classic models over the past year. Now, we have two new pieces with so-called “Tuxedo” dials in black and silver. The three-hander uses a familiar 38.5mm stainless case and L893 automatic with a sub-seconds dial. This is a gorgeous watch with its high contrast and luminous Arabic numerals and hands. Longines held off from adding a date and that helps this watch deliver on its retro intent. The watch is on sale and retails for €1,900.
Longines also brought out a Classic Chronograph edition with a 40mm steel case and the L895 automatic movement. Fitted with a solid case back and a sweet stepped bezel, this watch goes without any lume on its dial but brings in some great blue highlights on the sub hands and tachymeter track. For €2,850, this ought to be popular. Longines has a dedicated site for both of these models.
Geckota G-02 GMT
UK-based Geckota has released a wide variety of its new 200-meter water-resistant G-02 GMT. These 40mm steel watches use the Ronda Quartz GMT movement and are available in six different styles. Whether you want modern or “old radium” lume, Geckota has you covered. However, the brand is only making a maximum of 75 of each dial and bezel combination. Pricing starts at €219.99 but goes up if you choose a more premium strap or steel bracelet. This is a pretty inexpensive way to get a GMT with classic looks. Head to Geckota for more information.
Perrelet Turbine Camo
Perrelet makes some fairly wild looking watches and it’s added some variety with its new Turbine Camo. This uses the familiar 44mm steel case but adds a black PVD treatment. Inside the case, you can see ten aluminum blades that make up the turbine dial. Five tungsten counterweights allow the blades to spin and return to their initial starting place. A camo pattern lies beneath all this and on the rubber strap. Perrelet equips this limited edition of 100 pieces with its P-331 automatic movement. Pricing comes in at €4,780. Tissot Seastar 1000 Green
Green watches are clearly hot these days as we now have a huge variety on the market. Chalk up another two models courtesy of Tissot with its new Seastar 1000 Powermatic 80 and Chronograph. As the name suggests, the 43mm steel Powermatic 80 uses the Swatch Group’s automatic with 80- hours of power reserve.
The Chronograph features a quartz movement and measures in at 45.5mm. Both models are water-resistant to 30 bar or 1,000 feet. Pricing is rather approachable with the automatic at €690 and the Chronograph at €520 — both come on mesh bracelets. Head to the Tissot site for more information.
