We’re thrilled to unveil this masterpiece for general release. This watch combines the best of two vintage models from Nivada’s extensive catalog, resulting in a modern twist on classic designs.
Previously, we released an exclusive pre-order of 50 pieces earlier this year, with 10 of each dial variation. These sold out in a flash, but guess what? We’ve got great news for you! Fratello × Nivada Grenchen Racing Chronograph
Nivada Grenchen is known for its remarkable re-editions of vintage timepieces from its back catalog. However, this collaboration takes it to a whole new level. Together, we’re introducing an entirely new model line for this esteemed Swiss watch brand, and we couldn’t be more honored. Our mission has always been to deliver innovative and groundbreaking collaborations, and the Fratello × Nivada Grenchen Racing Chronograph is a testament to that commitment.
An ode to the past
Instead of simply selecting a vintage model, we took on the challenge of creating an entirely new watch from scratch. Our design takes inspiration from the Nivada Grenchen Chronosport’s case and the iconic Racing Chronograph’s dial, blending them with our own Fratello touch. One eye-catching change we made was swapping the red accents on the dial for our signature Fratello orange, injecting a touch of contemporary flair. Additionally, we added a steel tachymeter bezel, a feature absent in the original Chronosport case. The result? A stunning timepiece that leaves us just a little hot under the collar.
We kept true to the original model’s dimensions to maintain that vintage charm. Instead of opting for an oversized look, we chose a stout 38mm case that measures 13.75mm in thickness and 44.3mm from lug tip to lug tip. This ensures a comfortable fit for all wrists, whether big or small. We believe the 38mm case hits the sweet spot and should satisfy many collectors looking for a smaller chronograph. Its size and diverse range of dial variations make it irresistible to vintage watch enthusiasts and younger collectors alike. Sellita’s SW510 M b caliber powers our chronograph, a hand-wound movement boasting three sub-dials, 23 jewels, and an impressive 63-hour power reserve. The future owner will enjoy admiring this manual-winding movement through the display case back, a true treat for the horologically inclined.
A vintage-style racing chronograph but with modern specs
Of course, all the technical details look impressive on paper, but what matters most is how it feels on the wrist. And let us tell you, the comfort has blown away all of the Fratello team members who’ve tried it on. The iconic 20mm bullet-style bracelet tapers to 16mm at the buckle, giving it a vintage vibe with modern capabilities. But the aesthetics mean nothing if the watch and bracelet don’t complement each other well. Luckily, they harmonize beautifully in this case, resulting in a visually cohesive and highly wearable package. The orange chronograph hand, with its matching racing scale, ensures excellent legibility and perfectly complements the bracelet and the vertically brushed steel case.
Our ambition was never limited to a single model. From the start, we envisioned a Fratello Capsule Collection of watches, which led us to design five different dial variations. We created a panda dial and a reverse panda dial alongside the original black version. All three iterations are genuinely remarkable and are guaranteed to captivate watch enthusiasts. But we didn’t stop there! We also introduced a white-dial version for those who prefer a cleaner and crisper aesthetic. And for those seeking a more time-weathered look, we crafted a tropical brown variant. We aimed to preserve the vintage charm while infusing the watch with a modern chronograph design. All five versions offer enough versatility to appeal to both vintage enthusiasts and fans of contemporary timepieces.
